The encounter of a 27-year-old cloth merchant from South Waziristan who worked in Karachi, has shaken the pillars of the country. What used to be free outings for police, now brings repercussions and consequences.

Last week, Naqib Mehsud was murdered in cold blood by SSP Malir Rao Anwar and his police team, who stated that Naqib Mehsud was a member of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan. However, what Rao and his team did not know was that Naqib was a social media celebrity, with over 20,000 followers.

Ever since civil society spoke up against Rao Anwar and the Supreme Court took suo-moto action, a police inquiry committee under the leadership of Sanaullah Abbasi had been made against Anwar. The committee came to a result that Anwar and team had killed Naqib in a staged encounter.

First, Anwar was suspended from his post as SSP Malir. Later on, police asked him to come meet the DIG East at 11:00pm in the night, which he and his team failed to do. At this, the inquiry committee ordered raids at Anwar’s house and other locations, from where police men were picked up, but not Anwar himself.

Anwar is on the loose and the police is chasing for signs, as to where Anwar could be hiding. People on social media suggest that Anwar must be under Asif Zardari’s protection inside Bilawal House. However, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has ordered the IG Sindh and CM Sindh to conduct a ‘free and fair’ probe of the encounter case, as well as the trial of Rao Anwar/

Anwar and his supporters suggest that political infringement is the reason that he is being framed for Naqib’s murder, who wasn’t a family man but a terrorist.

With Anwar still in hiding, it is impossible for him to not show face to this issue and continue living in exile. He has to face the consequences of killing a very innocent Naqib Mehsood. Media and public also suggest that over the 5-6 years of Anwar in Malir, hundreds of staged encounters have taken place.
