Dear Mr. Imran Khan,

Your speech to the nation was one of a kind, which was listened to by all the hearts and ears of the Pakistanis. You pointed to the core problems which have plagued this country since ages, but there was one grave issue which was missing from your list of priorities. Being a sufferer of this problem, allow me to bring this into your knowledge.

My father, Syed Mumtaz Hussain, a citizen of Pakistan, has been missing since Jan 23rd, 2018.

In your speech, you mentioned that you would look out for widows and orphans. As for us, we don’t even know if we are orphans or if our mother has become a widow. Yet we are forced to live our lives as widow and orphans. Nevertheless, we have trust in God and hope that our father is still alive.

You also mentioned that you will make sure that the courts resolve all civil cases within a year. This is to bring to your notice, we submitted the petition in Sindh High Court after our father went missing. Seven months forward, even after the 7th hearing on the case, there has been no progress and there is still no news of his whereabouts or his wellbeing.

While you mentioned that only 7 lac people pay taxes, please remember that my father was one of those people. He was a taxpayer who never hesitated to pay taxes for his country. He was a patriot who wanted his children to join civil service to serve this country. He founded a poly-clinic to treat the poor and needy free of cost. He had also launched a scientific magazine ‘Ilm o Hirfat’ in the Urdu language, for the children of Urdu-medium schools. Since the day he went missing, many schools and libraries have been deprived of this convenience where the children of rural areas could have had a chance to learn science in their own language.

Also, while you talk about clearing the national debt, do remember that thousands of families have been crushed under heavy debts as their only bread-earner goes missing and there is no one left to look after the family.

In ‘riyasat-e-Madina’, people could go to the Holy Prophet in Masjid e Nabawi and share their issues and plights with him. If you are really looking forward to forming riyasat-e-Madina, then help us get justice for us and our father, and thousands of other people who have gone missing in this country.

Sincerely yours’

Daughter of Engineer Mumtaz
