The third edition of Pakistan Super League, the HBL PSL 3 is in full swing. Match after match, the celebrations don’t seem to stop. Quetta Gladiators, after a rather slow start, have finally gripped their feet in the tournament.
Team mentor of the Quetta Gladiators, Sir Vivian Richards, the West Indian cricketing legend, has always supported the purple shirts, in all three editions. He has helped them through to the final match on two occasions, with dreams of winning the cup this year out.

Yesterday, Quetta Gladiators locked horns against Karachi Kings. Quetta’s Shane Watson was the pick of the batsmen when he helped his team put a total of 180 on the scoreboard, with Kevin Pietersen also scoring 52. Defending the target, Rahat and Anwar Ali both took 2 wickets each and bowled Karachi out for 113 runs, giving their team a comfortable 67 run win.
After the match was over, it was time for celebrations. All the staff of Quetta Gladiators, along with the players, match officials and even commentator Rameez Raja, the owner Nadeem Omer set up a little birthday part for Sir Viv Richards as he turned 66 yesterday. After the happy go lucky birthday song, Nadeem Omar made sure Sir Viv took a piece of the cake from his hand, along with a little peck on the cheek, showing his love and adoration for the man.
The celebrations continued to the team bus and then to the hotel as well. Sir Viv also took a moment out to thank everybody on the team while speaking on the mic. He asked the players to recover quick, train hard and continue winning.

Happy Birthday Sir Viv. An absolute legend of the game and one of the reasons I enjoyed cricket so much as a youngster …. Even though you regularly smashed the England bowlers all over the park!!
