An international student exchange program has always been a charm for the Pakistani students. It looks very fascinating to think of having a year abroad discovering new academic pathways. But this charm has a dull side too.
Here are 5 disadvantages one should think about before indulging in a Student Exchange Program!
1. Conflicts with the host family
Students have been asked to live with a host family (who have provided accommodation) conflicts between the host family and students can cause residential issues for the students.
2. Culture Shock
In spite of having all the necessary information about the host country, students experience culture shock which affects them in different ways.
3. Lack of transportation
It is the most common and major problem because while studying abroad, students cannot arrange finances for having their own transport in a short time.
4. Job Issues
Students going abroad via exchange program always find it hard to find a job, even part-time.
5. Health Issues:
The most potential drawback is the health issue. Students must always have health insurance and be up to date with the host country’s vaccines so that they can remain fit and healthy.
Before signing up for the Student Exchange Program, every student and parents must ensure that there could be the possibilities of the solution to these problems otherwise the visit would be a misery instead of being beneficial.
