The sitting Deputy Commissioner of Kasur, Saira Omer, who was posted in the unfortunate district in September, sent out an official statement of the Government of Punjab on social media the other day.
In the video statement, DC Kasur Saira Omer talked about the Chief Minister’s keen interest in the case, along with updates on the joint investigation team’s finding, which has specially been set up for Zainab’s case.
As per Saira Omer, the government has made sufficient progress in the case, with the culprits not being far away from the law’s hands. However, the DC was of the opinion that instead of trying to find culprits every time, the nation needs to start awareness campaigns for child protection, so we do not end up in such rifts at the first place.
As per Saira Omer, since September, she had started an awareness campaign in Kasur, along with sensitization and child protection programs, linking up with all the stakeholders of the district and others, even lawyers who gave their expert opinion. Even after all these steps, Zainab was maimed in the most inhumane way.
However, people were never going to spare the Deputy Commissioner, no matter what she said, even if she made sense or not. The post, which carried the video message, was a sponsored post from the official page of the Government of Punjab.
