Climate as we know it is the atmospheric condition of a region for a long period of time i-e 30 to 50 years. Climate has been the core of scientific studies for a very long time.
Climate change is the change in the atmospheric condition of a region over a long period of time due to anthropogenic activities, natural disasters, and some gravitational or universal anomalies that happen from time to time.
In the past, humans have witnessed both extremely hot and cold climatic conditions that have resulted in the extinction of many species. It would have been a case of complete extinction if humans had no adoption or adjusting capabilities.
Ice ages, storms, famines, droughts over decades and millenniums were so outraging that almost half of the species were obliterated. People were illiterate and believed in supernatural phenomenon, magic, and bad luck. This resulted in false beliefs and tales. People assumed that there are many Gods to give their wandering mind a plausible explanation.
At present, scientific research and technological advancement have proved that global warming exists. They have provided evidence as well. Many people inquire about the causes and impacts. Many think and study the positive role of climate change and the discussion keeps on complicating. All questions have one answer, which is a question and it asks, “Where is and to which extreme is climate change advancing, hotness or coldness”?
At present, it is quite clear that the climate is getting hotter and there are many factors contributing to it. The disastrous impacts include global warming, change in rainfall pattern, floods, melting of glaciers, the rise of sea level, famines and droughts which have posed a threat to human security. Being the domineering species of planet earth, human are the primary victim of climate change.
Climate change! Climate change! And climate change! Everyone ranging from specialists in the field, scientists, institutions, educationists, political leaders chants the slogans of change which at current is unprecedented. But has anyone ever thought and dug deep into its repercussions except for the film industries? They definitely have good minds to infer the disasters linked to global warming. Interstellar, dooms day, Gravity, Ice age and Elysium are some of the Hollywood marvels that unravel the bitter truth we are creating.
Climate change is accelerating due to,
• An increase in the Green House Gases in the atmosphere from human led industries, automobiles, and nuclear tests.
• Increase in deforestation because of increasing human demand and timber mafias.
• Overpopulation that overburdens the natural resources of the world
• Besides the entire above factor, Human ignorance and negligence of the environmental issues in general and climate change in particular.
Here is an Environmental theory that was presented amidst the age when people started getting concerned about their surrounding and it was the boomerang theory which said, “What we throw can come back and hit us”. As you sow so shall you reap! Many theories and terms were brought into existence, however, one that can help us today is the policy of sustainable development.
People around the globe came to know the situation is aggravating and that steps must be taken but one country alone cannot be part of the solution. For the reason, many international protocols, agreements, and treaties have been signed and ratified.
Finally, one must understand the grave threat that humans are poised with due to climate change and must be concerned about finding a solution. Climate change has wiped out nations from the face of the earth and it must be stopped so that a happy human life nourishes on the green planet.
