Rimsha’s Father Reveals Disturbing Details About Her Daughter’s In-Laws

During a session, Dr. Tazeen Saeed Ali, the Associate Professor Department of Community Health Sciences revealed some horrific stats about the domestic violence in Pakistan. She said that every second woman in Pakistan suffers from some form of domestic violence which directly effects her mental and physical health being. Unfortunately, the societal mindsets towards women in Pakistan need ages to change!

Recently, a 22-year-old girl and her three months old son were thrown to the ground from roof by her in-laws. According to media reports, Rimsha had a love marriage with Rizwan Ahmed about two years ago. The family of Rizwan didn’t seem happy with the newcomer which is why they never accepted her. Rimsha’s marriage with Rizwan became her worst nightmare when her mother-in-law pushed her from the roof along with her three months old son.

Rizwan Ahmed was working in Dubai while Rimsha was living with his family in Delhi Colony, Karachi. When Rimsha and her son were pushed, people gathered at the spot to help the poor girl. Her in-laws tried their best to frame the incident as a suicide attempt.

But Rimsha’s father, Muhammad Khalid, talking to Express News told that according to eyewitnesses, Rimsha told them that she was pushed by her mother-in-law. Rimsha was then brought to the nearest hospital where she died due to serious injuries.

Rimsha’s father-in-law, Ghulam Rasool, mother-in-law Nasreen Bibi, a sister-in-law and husband’s youngest brother’s wife were present at the time of the incident. Ghulam Rasool told media that he was totally unaware of the incident, while police are still waiting for the investigation report. They have arrested Nasreen bibi and Iqram (the brother-in-law of Rimsha) in suspect.

According to Express News, while visiting the house of Rimsha, they found that the rooftop of sixth floor along with balcony steel grill is about six feet long from where nobody could fell coincidentally.

This incident has raised many questions on the number of laws against domestic violence our government approved last year. It is time for human rights organizations to ask the concerned authorities for implementation of these laws.
