On Tuesday 22nd January, Prime Minister Imran Khan of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) went vocal about how he needs and is striving to make a ‘Naya Pakistan’ that foreign Pakistanis can be proud of.

Khan was speaking at an event in Doha, Qatar for overseas Pakistanis and he mentioned that he would steer the country out of these difficult times it is currently going through.

“Pakistan has no shortage in resources, it is only the corrupt former governments that have looted the national wealth which is why we are in the state we find ourselves in,” Imran Khan quoted. “Overseas Pakistanis play a vital role for Pakistan’s economy and you are our most important assets,” he mentioned.

“I’m fully aware of the problems being faced by you [overseas Pakistanis], the premier maintained.

“Those sending money to Pakistan are heroes and those doing laundering money are villains of the country,” he said and expressed his determination to continue fighting the “villains.”

The premier said the time was not far away when people would not go overseas in search of jobs and Pakistan itself would become an economic hub.

The same day, Imran Khan had a meeting with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha. Imran Khan and the governor discussed the entire spectrum of mutual ties, regional and international matters of shared interest.

A ceremonial welcoming ceremony in the honor of the premier also took place at Amiri Diwan in Doha.
