Pakistan’s education system has long been divided into two halves. One-half of the education network lies with the government, while the preferred choice of the country rests with the private sector.

Both choices, however, are full of faults and manipulation. At one end, the government’s education system is vastly flawed due to the inability of teachers to spread knowledge, the other end usually becomes a thorn in the skin for parents who enroll their children in private schools.

One father took to famous social media hub Facebook in a video message, where he demanded support of other parents who too were going through similar manipulation by private schools. Allegedly, The Smart School in Karachi has forced this father to pay extra fees for two months, because he delayed paying his son’s fee.

According to the father of the child who is a part of the school, the administration issued a fee voucher of 7k+ for two months on 15th December 2017, while the same day was the last date to pay the fee. Due to his commitments, Mr. Khurram had delayed the payment. However, when he went to pay the fee a few days later, the bank sent him back to school, for a new fee voucher.

He sent his son to get a revised fee voucher and was shocked at what he saw. The school had demanded payment of the fee for 4 months, instead of 2. When the father rejected paying the whole fee, the school threatened that they would rusticate his child if the whole amount of 15k+ was not paid.

This incident clearly shows that private schools blackmail parents whenever they want to, demanding more fee than what the parents should be paying. The father also stated that he may be able to pay the full amount, but what about the salary driven people who cannot afford to pay extra money due to their limited bank balance?

This is another feather in the cap of private schools who have long forced parents to do anything they want to. In today’s world, education is considered the most important factor in a child’s life. When education becomes more expensive than the livelihood of humans, the particular society stops bearing any fruits.
