It is sad to witness how inhumane mankind has become towards its beings and environment. But that’s just a harsh reality, which a lot of us fail to accept no matter hard we try. Despite the ban, fishing is still continued in Rawal Dam through various methods. Keeping their commercial objectives in mind, the hunters have not stopped performing this illegal activity.

According to sources recently, the local mafia has added poisonous material into the water of Rawal Dam, Rawalpindi that has killed nearly 240 tonnes of fish in the past three days and the numbers just keep increasing on a daily basis.

According to the FIR registered by Deputy Director Fisheries Department Islamabad, Muhammad Sadiq Buzdar, the areas been prohibited for fishing and boating and has also asked the mafia to stop this illegal activity.

During the investigation, he also stated that a major operation was carried out by ICT against the mafia and 20 of their boats were confiscated and five people were arrested.  But, according to Geo News, the Water and Sanitation Agency responsible for supplying water to the city said that the water of Rawal Dam is tested every day and that they have not found any poisonous materials in the water.

Is there any way that this illegal activity could be stopped? Because apparently, even after the ban, people fail to understand as to why such activities are illegal and continue doing what they want, especially for commercial purposes. Who is going to tell them they are threatening the lives of organisms in these waters? Who is going to make them stop for once and for all?
