Kiran belongs to a lower middle-class family and is currently admitted in Bolan Medical Complex, Quetta. When asked if she had any threat, Kiran replied, «no, never». Moreover, Kiran severely needs the help of government and civil society, as her injuries cannot be treated in Quetta.

Her Mother, Farzana Got seriously wounded

According to research, an acid attack is always motivated by revenge, jealousy, and acrimony. In addition, people who are unable to beat one on the logical ground, they use alternatives – acid! Besides, acid attack inflicts horrendous injuries to the victim which are not only physical but mental. How would someone feel if their beautiful face changes to an ugly one? Such attacks lead to chronic anxiety and depression.

How do people indulge in such an attack? How do they not fear God or law authorities? Furthermore, don’t they think about the repercussions of the attack- what the victim faces after being attacked!? Our society has miserably failed in preventing violence against women.
The government needs to pay heed on growing abuse of acid attacks. Acids are easily available in the market on meager price. Psychologically, a criminal always goes for the easiest way of committing a crime – acid throwing. In fact, it is not only safe but an effective weapon as it could inflict significant injuries. The government should regulate laws regarding buying and selling of acids. Moreover, it should toil to apprehend the acid attackers and make an example out of them.
A man selling acids

All in all, media, seers, and scholars of society need to play their part in educating the masses. Education can alleviate such social crimes. Islamic scholars should educate people about the status of women prescribed by Islam. Media can portray the importance of women in our society along with showing programs where Islamic ulemas and seers tell speak about women rights.
