National Stadium Karachi will witness the majestic event of this year as the final of this year’s edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) would be held in Karachi on Sunday 17th March 2019. There are just two days left in the final match of PSL and people are anxiously waiting for the big day!

Last week, Indian cricketers wore camouflage-style caps while playing their third One-Day International (ODI) of their five-match series against Australia in the eastern Indian city of Ranchi. Board Of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that the team will be wearing those caps in solidarity with those 44 soldiers who lost their lives at Pulwama. This politicization in sports was noticed by everyone and Pakistanis demanded from PCB to allow Pakistani players wearing the black band to remind the world about Indian atrocities in Kashmir.

Among others, Director-General of Inter-Services Public Relations Major Ghafoor took it to Twitter and took a jibe at Indian cricketers for wearing caps during a match. He appreciated Pakistan-born Australian batsman, Usman Khawaja who scored 104 runs in third ODI.

To give Indian cricketers a befitting reply, Pakistanis launched a campaign on social media for wearing military caps or uniforms on the final match of PSL Season 4. It has been demanded by social media users that if Indian cricketers can support their army, why don’t we?

In response to all these demands, DG ISPR Major General Ghafoor tweeted that sports are beyond politics.

“Dear Pakistanis u are desirous to put on military-style caps/shirts during PSL Final. Pak Armed Forces humbly acknowledge your love & support. Sports are beyond politics & we believe that our bondage is beyond such gestures alone. Enjoy the game in CityOfLights.#PakistanZindabad”, tweeted Major General Ghafoor.
