There is a new sense of being the country’s civilian cadres, one that has started to show its ownership of the country. Throughout the nation, the role of Pakistan’s forces intervening in civil and government matters is being questioned, and it seems like a domino effect of incidents that are following.

Another incident has gone viral on the Pakistani internet, where Air Force officials in uniform were seen misbehaving with traffic wardens and civilians, on the back of a retired Air Commodore. The incident took place on Mall Road, Rawalpindi, and is being discussed on different forums.

Troubles for the traffic wardens began after they had fined a woman for parking violation. Upon getting fined, the woman called upon Retired. Air Commodore Ziaur Rehman, who reached the scene with Air Force officials, who thought they would be able to take matters in control due to them being in uniform.

As soon as they arrived, the started to create ‘panic’ by screaming loudly and targeting the traffic wardens, who were no match for the ASF jawans. Their high-handedness could clearly be seen in the video. We’re pretty sure the general public would have sided with the Air Force men too, had it not been for the civilian who interrupted.

The civilian entered the scene by saying the traffic wardens were right in their duty, to which an Air Force jawan got angry and started screaming at the civilian. Both sides then became very loud in their approach and when the civilian asked the ASF man if he was “going to beat up a civilian?” the Jawan said “Yes!” – it was then that the civilian stated “Ap ki awkaat hai?” – after which the video was turned off.

Even though, as per reports, a compromise has been reached between all parties, people keep discussing about the way our forces seem to ‘own’ every situation, pertaining to them never being wrong in any case. However, these men are a source of pride for us. When higher officials use them and their powers for personal gains, it is only then when it starts to hurt the masses.
