Let’s accept it, no matter how posh or just our police force tends to act or actually does become, none of us really believe it from the core of our hearts. It’s almost always a debate about how incompetent our police is, compared to the fact that our discussions wouldn’t enhance their competence.
Recently, a video went viral on social media that caught the whole country’s attention, including all the leading television channels. In the video, a person could be seen sitting a stating the condition of the Central Jail Karachi, home to some of the country’s most notorious goons and wrongdoers.
The person, who himself is a prisoner at Karachi’s Central Jail talks about the numerous shenanigans that the jail administration, which involves all cadres of police, is carrying out. He further states that every illegal activity that happens inside the Central Jail is done at the orders of the officers involved.
The video shows a man sitting on the ground, with packets of what looks like heroin on the floor. He says that the police is the one bringing in all these drugs inside the jail. They then force prisoners themselves to sell drugs inside the prison, so both parties can make some money. The man is tired of being a hustler for the police inside the jail.
He further states all the classes and places inside the jail where drugs are being sold, along with the fact that senior officers tell prisoners to sell drugs for them, not involving anyone from the lower cadres. He puts a lot of emphasis on how such drugs could be brought inside the jail if higher officials were not involved while naming some senior officers.
Another big revelation came from the prisoner when he exposed mass corruption inside the jail regarding the ‘jammers’ that have been brought for crores of rupees. The jammers that are supposed to disconnect all cellular networks do not work and everyone inside the prison uses cellphones.
With such revelations and a video confession as proof, it is now up to higher authorities to take matters into their own hands and put an end to this scourge inside the Central Jail.
