The shooting incident in Karachi’s Phase-8 area, which took the precious life of an 18-year-old boy, has gone viral all over Pakistan. It is the second most highlighted incident after the famous Shahzeb Khan murder case.

The prime suspect in the incident, Khawar Burney, who is now under arrest and jailed in the Darakshan Police Station, presented his side of the story to the SHO Investigation, who recorded the incident in a video statement.

According to Khawar, he, his friends and cousins were on their usual routine of visiting the ‘Devil’s Point’ track early Saturday morning. Khawar is a bike enthusiast and stuntman, who loves show-offing his skills, by the looks of his Facebook profile.

Khawar said that his friend, Dr. Raheem, who in a video statement said he did not know Khawar, was riding another friend Hammad’s GSXR bike when a Mercedes with 4 kids inside crashed into him. After the accident, the Mercedes tried to flee the scene when Khawar approached them in his car, trying to stop them.

After Zafir and his friends refused to stop, they kept crashing their car into his. At this, Khawar took his pistol out and threatened to shoot if they did not pull over. However, the Mercedes still tried to get away. Burney then tried shooting their tires, and according to him, when the Mercedes crashed into his car, he lost control and shot through the windows ‘by mistake’.

The suspect’s body language showed no regret of the incident, as he explained what had happened. After shooting, he himself fled the scene. He said he had no idea who shot the kids after the car stopped, as he did not have a rifle. Khawar said that it might have been Dr. Raheem’s guards who were accompanying them in his Black Vigo.

Khawar’s statement proves that the shooting did not happen in an act of self-defense, but his rogue nature that wanted to take law into his own hands.

Only time will tell that if police would lodge an act of terrorism against Khawar Burney for shooting in public, something which has recently been highlighted in Shahzeb Khan’s murder case, as courts have ordered a retrial. As for young Zafir, it is being said that he gave up his life protecting his friend Irham. Watch this space for more updates on the incident.
