As Ramzan is considered a sacred occasion all over the world, its commencement is a whole new matter in Pakistan. Every year, a clash in decisions is seen within the members of moon sighting committee known as Ruet-e-Hilal committee of Pakistan. Two different commencement dates of Ramzan result in two different Eids which leaves the awaam with mixed reactions.
The moon sighting ceremony was lead last evening by Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman, head of the Ruet-e-Hilal committee and came to the conclusion that there are no sights of moon received. While, in Peshawar Maulana Shahabuddin Popalzai, Imam of the historic Qasim Ali Shah mosque in Peshawar announced that the people of his tribe will be fasting from today (Monday) followed by Saudi Arabia as always. Pakistanis are yet again struck with celebrating two Eids this year as the whole of Pakistan will be commencing Ramzan from Tuesday except Popalzai’s tribe in Peshawar.
Pakistanis, as always, were quick to respond to the issue. Some laughed it off as its quite normal now but few got angry and used foul language against Popalzai. Some of the comments made were way too hilarious.
This one by far takes the lead:
«Itni hi-tech machines se government ko chand nazar nai aya aur ye banda 15o rupay ki durbeen se chand dekh leta hai. Hairat hai, ho skta hai k sheeshay per chand numa kharash ayi hui ho aur durbeen k andr se dekhnay pr wo chand lgta ho».
This guy totally lost his cool
Playing along. Woah!
«Waisay yehi sawaal agr aap se poocha jaye k is poori duniya ko chand kaisay nazar ajati hai siwa ek Pakistan k ek bh***** ko nahin aati hai nazar».
Links with ‘khalaai makhlooq’ have been discovered here:
«Mahir fulqiaat pagal hain jo technology se chand dekh nahin paatay aur ye Popalzai sahab ki khalaai makhlooq apni aankhon se sub dekh leti hai».
The one with ‘Emaan’ judgements:
The reaction of Pakistani awaam was hilarious and some even gave it in Popalzai’s favour. The government was also involved in the matter and The Minister of Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry also shared his views on and that he intends to replace the Ruet-e-Hilal committee with scientific panels in the coming future. Pakistanis are now looking forward to the day when the whole of Pakistan will be celebrating single eid.
