Pakistan was seeing a huge number of Chinese nationals roaming all over the country after the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) development project started in Gwadar, Balochistan. Where the transnational marriage dilemma was cheered by Pakistanis, the actual story turned out to be a horrifying scenario. The whole Chinese men marrying Pakistani girls anecdote was nothing but a massive human trafficking scam.
Earlier this month, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) caught more than a dozen Chinese nationals involved in the trafficking business. Several Pakistani nationals were also arrested who were said to be helping them in finding financially weak families. It was later revealed that the Chinese men after marriage take their Pakistani Christian wives to China and use them forcefully in illicit activities. Girls who were fortunate enough have somehow returned back but it is also believed that some have even died over there.
As the case got viral, Pakistanis were shocked and furious and the demand for a ban on Chinese nationals got high. Regarding the matter, the Chinese government cooperated with Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies and launched a crackdown against unlawful matchmaking centers making illegal numbers by these transnational marriages.
Two days back, another incident was reported where an innocent soul lost her life to the hands of these traffickers. A Christian girl named Samiya from Francisabad, a small village in Gujranwala region of Pakistan was married to a Chinese man a few months back. At the time of marriage, Samiya had to get some tests done before going to China with his husband. The reports came in clear and she was declared totally healthy. After leaving Pakistan, no one knows what happened with her over there that she became severely ill.
Later on, her Chinese husband called her parents in Pakistan and told them that Samiya is seriously ill and I’m bringing her back to Pakistan. Her family reached the airport before time to receive them but her husband just handed her over to the family and went back from the airport. She was totally pale and was nearly unconscious. Her parents got worried and admitted her in the General Hospital in Lahore. New tests were performed every day and medicines were given on time but no progress.
As per Samiya’s brother, Sabir’s statement: «Whenever we used to tell her that she’s gonna recover soon, she would reply that she can’t recover and that they (Chinese) are very powerful and are in a huge number. We can’t fight them, they can come anywhere anytime and kill us.» Afterwards, she started acting really weird and the doctors had no hope left on her. We brought her back to Francisabad on May 1 and she died the next day, Sabir stated.
Now is the ultimate time for the law enforcing agencies in Pakistan to act responsibly or else these cases will be seen in future too. A humble request to the parents of every daughter; ‘PLEASE STOP SELLING YOUR DAUGHTERS AGAINST MATERIALISTIC COMFORTS’.
