To probe the mysterious extra-judicial killing, better known as an encounter, of Naqibullah Mehsood, a cloth merchant who hailed from South Waziristan, a police inquiry was set up under the leadership of Additional IGP Sindh Counter-Terrorism Department Dr Sanaullah Abbasi.

Naqib Mehsood, a 27-year-old aspiring model with a huge following on social media, was murdered in cold blood by SSP Rao Anwar and his team, who labeled Naqib as a terrorist with militant tendencies.

As per the investigation and report of the policy body, according to leading newspapers and inside reports, the committee was not able to find any links of Naqib with terrorism, but claim that he was a family man who had goals for him and his family in the future.

The murder can now be dubbed as a ‘fake encounter’ carried out by SSP Rao Anwar and his team. The reason? Ransom from young guns of Waziristan, subject to them paying the amount for their freedom and livelihood or not.

The punishment for a police officer who kills someone in a fake encounter is clearly written in the police-code, as per Sanaullah Abbasi, who said that the people of Pakistan should not worry, because justice will be served.

Rao Anwar is famous for his extra-judicial killings in Karachi, especially of Urdu speaking and Pakhtun men. He earned his laurels in the 92′ operation against Mahajirs in Karachi, and ever since then, he has not been answerable to anyone.

On the committee’s approval, SSP Rao Anwar had been suspended from his duty in Malir, along with his name being placed on the Exit Control List (ECL).

It is now crystal clear that Naqib Mehsood was murdered in a fake encounter by SSP Rao Anwar. Let us wait for justice, and a historic decision from the police services of Pakistan.
